London Borough of Hackney
The London Borough of Hackney agreed to terminate its contract with its private sector supplier earlier than anticipated. This meant that 84 schools within the Borough needed new catering arrangements in place for the commencement of the new term in September.
AVL Consultancy were retained to write generic specifications and contract documents for the schools, train Headteachers and Governors in the options available to them, and to assist where necessary with the award of contracts. AVL also, through one of its associated companies, provided support to the schools with negotiations with their preferred contractor or with establishing their own self-operated catering service. Within four months of the system's commencement, all 84 schools had new arrangements in place as part of the new Hackney Learning Trust.
